There is so much to think about when choos­ing child­care: How far do I want to travel? How much am I will­ing to spend? What will they eat? What will they do all day? Is so­cial­is­ing with other kids more im­por­tant than hav­ing one-on-one time with an adult? Do they need struc­tured play? And the big­gest one: Who can I trust to en­sure my child is safe? The list goes on and on. Start­ing the hunt for child­care, par­ents don’t al­ways know what to look for, which can lead to hasty and re­gret­table de­ci­sions. It’s im­por­tant to know what you want out of your child­care, and to make sure it aligns with your val­ues as par­ents. Here, four Kiwi mums give their hon­est ac­counts of how their child­care choice has panned out in the long term.
