Wanda has no­ticed that her grandpa is not quite the same as ev­ery­one else in her house­hold, that he is in fact a di­nosaur, but no one will be­lieve her. The au­thors have brought their comic book tal­ents across to the pic­ture book cat­e­gory, mak­ing for bril­liant and wacky vi­su­als that stir the imag­i­na­tion. This beau­ti­fully il­lus­trated story is in­spired by Moko the dol­phin, who lived and played in the sea at Mai­hia, and is told both in Te Reo and English. Whaanga weaves the story of lit­tle Pōtiki, a boy who just wants to help his big broth­ers but is al­ways told he is “too lit­tle”, with the story of a singing dol­phin who comes in to the is­land to play and sing songs.
