Win or lose by the way we choose

Manawatu Guardian - - NEWS -

It has been very much on my mind listening to the news and the dilemma that we face as China no longer wishes to receive all of our plastic and paper rubbish.

We have a problem of where to store it until we can decide what to do with it. It is time we took stock and decided to lessen the load of rubbish that we make. This is a big uphill battle but it is one we can all take responsibility for. We owe it to the planet and to our children’s children to start to be less wasteful and more responsible with all of our resources.

Yes, it costs us more initially to buy the responsibly produced product but we can no longer afford the expense of a wasteful throw-away lifestyle.

Furniture manufacture is an area where we can support sustainable production.

Did you know that right here in Palmerston North we have businesses that are manufacturing NZ carefully made furniture?

Blanchetts Furniture is one company that use NZ sustainably-grown and responsibly milled timbers for their quality sofas and chairs. Blanchetts also offers a wide range of other custom-made and locally made hard furniture. These are in a classic style so do not date and can be covered in any fabric or leather to make them the focus pieces or understated timeless elegance you are looking for.

Because they are made right here in Palmerston North they can be custom made to your style and fit, so not only do you have a quality timeless piece but it works for you. Having a chair made to measure is a treat that we no longer just dream of — it can be your reality.
