New sta­tion for St John planned

In Palmerston North St John is man­aged by a lo­cal area com­mit­tee. This com­mit­tee is made up of lo­cal busi­ness and pro­fes­sional peo­ple. Re­tired farm­ers, pro­fes­sional busi­ness own­ers, an ac­coun­tant, a per­son work­ing in the ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor, a se­nior medic with the NZ De­fence Force and other long­stand­ing St John mem­bers.

This com­mit­tee are all vol­un­teers giv­ing their time and ex­ten­sive knowl­edge to the over­all man­age­ment of the or­gan­i­sa­tion in the city.

The com­mit­tee is work­ing to­ward the es­tab­lish­ment of a sec­ond am­bu­lance sta­tion in the south­ern quad­rant of the city to pro­vide quicker am­bu­lance re­sponse times for that sec­tor of Palmerston North. Cur­rently the main sta­tion is in Tre­maine Ave op­po­site the in­ter­sec­tion with Here­taunga St.

Fundrais­ing for this new 24/7 fa­cil­ity will start shortly.

In the mean­time sup­port to St John can be made by sup­port­ing the St John Op Shop at 304 Broad­way or call­ing at the of­fice on the cor­ner of Lin­ton and Church streets.
