Manawatu Guardian - - STEPPING OUT... -

Popular piano duet Christine Archer Lockwood and Guy Donaldson will be performing at the Globe Theatre Sunday matinee concert series.

The duet enjoys bringing their lifelong experience and skills as music teachers and performers to new opportunities in the community.

The concert will begin with the popular Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, and will progress to a sonata by Mozart during which the duet will engage in a lively and sustained music dialogue.

Given their taste for taking audiences to new territories, the duet will go Russian with music by Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Rachmaninov and will finish with a toe-tapping performance of Franz Liszt’s most popular piece, Second Hungarian Rhapsody.

Christine was nominated best musical director for Levin’s Little Theatre production of Spamalot in the 2017 Regional Theatre awards.

She was also one of the two pianists for the Renaissance Singers’ Carmina Burana and will be co-conducting their concert on September 2.

■ The programme of piano duets will be heldat the Globe Theatre, August 26 at 2.30pm. Admission is by minimum donation of $5.
