Search for young gar­den­ers

Or­gan­is­ers in the in­au­gu­ral search for New Zealand’s bud­ding young gar­dener want to hear from Manawatu¯ young green thumbs. Sarah O’Neil, au­thor, gar­den­ing columnist and pop­u­lar speaker, will be join­ing Ruud Klein­paste on the judg­ing panel. The na­tional com­pe­ti­tion is open to chil­dren aged 5-15 years, who love getting into the gar­den and shar­ing their pas­sion for grow­ing things. Ex­pe­ri­ence is not es­sen­tial but getting ex­cited about be­ing in the gar­den is. The grand prize is a five day visit to Queens­land in­clud­ing flights, ac­com­mo­da­tion and a rental car plus tick­ets to the Queens­land Gar­den­ing Expo (if trav­el­ling in July) and a three day pass to Gold Coast theme parks.
