Ap­pli­ca­tion for grants

Ap­pli­ca­tions opened on Septem­ber 19 for the coun­cil’s Strate­gic Pri­or­ity Grants (SPG). The tri­en­nial grants, pre­vi­ously known as Fee for Ser­vice, have been re­named to more ac­cu­rately re­flect their pur­pose. Not-for-profit and so­cial en­ter­prise groups will be awarded three­year con­tracts and fund­ing for projects and pro­grammes that con­tribute to­wards coun­cil’s newly adopted strate­gic goals. Gen­eral man­ager com­mu­nity Deb­bie Dun­can says the fund­ing is aimed at ac­ti­vat­ing the po­ten­tial of the com­mu­nity to help de­liver coun­cil’s strate­gic di­rec­tion, build­ing and en­cour­ag­ing com­mu­nity ca­pac­ity, lead­er­ship and co-or­di­na­tion, and em­pow­er­ing lo­cal groups to take own­er­ship of pro­grammes that ad­dress lo­cal is­sues.

A se­ries of drop-in in­for­ma­tion ses­sions for in­ter­ested groups be­gan on Septem­ber 21 un­til No­vem­ber 19 when ap­pli­ca­tions close.
