Plenty on for kids dur­ing hol­i­days

If you’re look­ing for some­thing for the kids over the school hol­i­days, there are plenty of fun ac­tiv­i­ties to keep them en­ter­tained. This week also marks the start of this year’s Fringe Fes­ti­val, with a wide range of shows for all in­ter­ests and ages. ■ The Palmer­ston North City Li­brary has an ar­ray of fun work­shops and ac­tiv­i­ties over the school hol­i­day pe­riod. There will be Ai­lene’s Craft ses­sions run­ning through the week, Go Bal­lis­tic: Mini Cross­bows and Cat­a­pults ses­sions, for those who want to get busy build­ing, to a Teddy Bear Sleep­over on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 5 from 4pm-6pm. ■ Join The Red Walk on Sun­day, Septem­ber 30 from 9am for their 5km or 10km fun run to raise money and aware­ness for Cure Kids, here in Manawatu¯ . The walk and run both start and fin­ish at the Hardie St Re­serve, fol­low­ing along the Bridal Track next to the beau­ti­ful Manawatu¯ River. There will be face paint­ing, a bouncy cas­tle, bar­be­cue, cold drinks, cof­fee tent, raf­fles and spot prizes.

■ Get on your bike for the Feild­ing Fes­ti­val of Cy­cling on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 13 at 2pm. Take part on this cy­cling chal­lenge for all abil­i­ties, with four rides to choose from. There will be three recre­ational rides with great spot prizes and a clas­sic cy­cle NZ race for li­censed rid­ers with cash prizes.
