Com­pe­ti­tion to show­case Feild­ing’s best gar­dens

Keep Feild­ing Beau­ti­ful is be­ing res­ur­rected this year to show­case lo­cals’ gar­dens.

Chair of Keep Feild­ing Beau­ti­ful, Rus­sell Parker, said they’re hold­ing the com­pe­ti­tion later than the usual time of Au­gust, when gar­dens are look­ing lush with new spring growth.

“The com­pe­ti­tion shows the town spirit and we’re ex­pect­ing 50 gar­dens to be en­tered this year.”

The Manawatu¯ town has an im­pres­sive record of main­tain­ing beau­ti­ful gar­dens and over 25 years, Feild­ing has won Keep New Zealand Beau­ti­ful 16 times.

There are seven cat­e­gories in Keep Feild­ing Beau­ti­ful and the com­pe­ti­tion is open to gar­dens that are within 6km of Feild­ing’s Manch­ester Square.

The com­pe­ti­tion closes 4pm Fri­day Novem­ber 2 and en­tries can be handed to the Feild­ing In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre at the Rail­way Sta­tion.

Judg­ing will take place be­tween Novem­ber 5-10. The cat­e­gories are: Vil­las, flats and/apart­ment gar­dens; gar­dens on sec­tions up to 1200 sq me­tres; gar­dens on sec­tions larger than 1200 sq me­tres; new gar­dens un­der two years old; veg­etable gar­dens, lawns, and a photo of your gar­den.
