Competition to showcase Feilding’s best gardens
Keep Feilding Beautiful is being resurrected this year to showcase locals’ gardens.
Chair of Keep Feilding Beautiful, Russell Parker, said they’re holding the competition later than the usual time of August, when gardens are looking lush with new spring growth.
“The competition shows the town spirit and we’re expecting 50 gardens to be entered this year.”
The Manawatu¯ town has an impressive record of maintaining beautiful gardens and over 25 years, Feilding has won Keep New Zealand Beautiful 16 times.
There are seven categories in Keep Feilding Beautiful and the competition is open to gardens that are within 6km of Feilding’s Manchester Square.
The competition closes 4pm Friday November 2 and entries can be handed to the Feilding Information Centre at the Railway Station.
Judging will take place between November 5-10. The categories are: Villas, flats and/apartment gardens; gardens on sections up to 1200 sq metres; gardens on sections larger than 1200 sq metres; new gardens under two years old; vegetable gardens, lawns, and a photo of your garden.
