World Singing Day is a global singalong and Palmerston North’s Six to Sixty joined the annual event on Saturday.

More than 26 countries across seven continents sang with their own local performances.

The event celebrates the world’s common humanity, using the power of singing together to connect people and communities.

Each choir around the world performed their choice of songs, however the one common song that all choirs sang was From Now On from the movie The Greatest Showman.

Local talent Amy McKenna hosted the event with her choir Six to Sixty who performed in the Square with a variety of well-known songs to encourage the public to sing along with them.

Six to Sixty was well supported by local singers from other choirs.

■ Six to Sixty, a community choir for any age, is always on the lookout for new members. There is no audition process. The choir meets every Wednesday at 7pm in The Loft in Square Edge and regularly performs for the community.
