Paddon ponders

Hayden Paddon has described Rally de Portugal as a ‘‘rally of what might have been’’, The Hyundai Motorsport driver wrapped up the latest World Rally Championsh­ip event with two more stage victories yesterday, leaving him with mixed emotions after being plagued with mechanical failures on the opening two days. The race was won by four-time world champion Sebastien Ogier. Despite finishing well down the order in 29th place, Paddon took some solace in the fact he was still able to win four of the 19 stages in Portugal and said it was a promising start for new British co-driver Sebastian Marshall, who riding shotgun for the first time.
