Upskill at church

People keen to improve their automotive nous have the chance to do so for free.

Experience­d mechanic Clint Pearce is running a four-week course at Manukau New Life Church starting on August 31.

It’s on four consecutiv­e Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9pm at the church in Jellicoe Rd.

The course will cover topics including fluid leaks, cooling and electrical systems, spark plugs, replacing fuses, bulbs and flat tyres, battery maintenanc­e, brakes, and more.

People who take part will be able to ask questions using their personal experience as examples to help their fellow students.

Manukau New Life pastor Stephen Miller says the course is aimed at anyone in the community who wants to expand on their mechanical knowledge.

‘‘It’s for people who want to know more about their car or upskill themselves in how to maintain it so they won’t have big expenses because they haven’t looked after it.

‘‘Clint wanted to run the course to bless the community and he’s also put the training material together.

‘‘I’m stoked to have someone with that sort of initiative involved with the church.’’

People who take part will also receive a free course book.
