Bikers prepare for show
The 2017 New Zealand Motorcycle show is next month at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane.
It’s a major fundraiser organised by Papakura Rotary which raised $140,000 in 2016.
This went to groups including the National Burn Unit at Middlemore Hospital, Youth Driver Awareness Programme and education scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
This year’s show will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Burt Munro’s speed record.
Indian NZ have customised a brand new Scout in tribute to Munro. It will be auctioned on TradeMe starting at a $1 reserve with all proceeds going to charity.
Motorcycle group Ride Forever are also sponsoring the event. They’ll be offering tips and giveaways on courses to improve people’s riding.
There will be 100,000 square feet of indoor display space featuring bikes from all major manufacturers with new models and latest releases on display.
Visitors can also register for the chance to win a brand new Royal Enfield Classic 350. Many other prizes are up for grabs.
The show is on September 16 and 17. Gates are open 9am to 5pm, adults $20, kids (5 to 13) $5, family (two adults, two kids) $40. Go online to nzmotorcycleshow.co.nz for more.
