The area bor­ders State High­way 1 and The Gar­dens - a Na­tional party strong­hold in South Auck­land.

Two vot­ing lo­ca­tions around Hillpark bucked the over­all elec­torate trend.

Nearly half of the 1375 valid party votes cast at Hillpark School went to Na­tional. Labour could only man­age 26.25 per cent. Nearby Ma­nurewa Cen­tral School only marginally went to Labour by 17 votes, out of the 420 valid party votes cast over­all. In­ter­est­ingly, the sole polling booth in Wey­mouth only had a 32 vote ma­jor­ity to Labour. In the south­ern part of the elec­torate, 868 valid votes were cast over­all: 357 went to Labour ver­sus 325 votes to Na­tional. It was one of the high­est votes for New Zealand First in Ma­nurewa.

It man­aged 161 votes, the same num­ber at Ever­glade Pri­mary fur­ther north.
