To cel­e­brate TeWiki o Te Reo Ma¯ori, or Ma¯ori Lan­guage Week, are a se­ries of shows teach­ing the lan­guage. Chil­dren and their wha¯nau are in­vited to the free events at Manukau Institute of Tech­nol­ogy (MIT) lo­cated near the Manukau train sta­tion. Run­ning un­til Septem­ber 15, Mahi Pai Tani­wha pro­motes te reo and sign lan­guage in fun­ways to stu­dents up to year nine. Sev­eral schools have been in­vited to at­tend the 45-minute shows, at 11.45am and 1.45pm. Each of the five tani­wha bring their own at­tributes to the ta­ble. Kori pro­motes health, fit­ness and sports.
