High tea for Hospice
Drink tea and be merry.
That’s the plan for this weekend’s high tea event, organised by Hospice Marlborough.
So if sipping from china cups and dining in your Sunday best sounds like you, check out Sunday’s Christmas-themed high tea at Pa¯taka,The Foodstore.
Hospice volunteer Beth Barnes, who is organising the event, says this is the first year Hospice Marlborough has put on a high tea event. They are hoping all 50 tickets will sell.
The high tea will be presented in three tiers with savouries and sweet treats by Pa¯taka, The Foodstore between 2pm and 3pm.
Four Christmas-themed classes will also run throughout the day to help people get ready for the festive season.
The classes involve decorating Christmas cookies, Christmas tags, floral design and styling and will be run by various businesses in the community.
‘‘All the classes are set up so you can learn something there and then take it home ... and make it on a larger scale,’’ Barnes said.
Classes are limited to 12 people and run throughout the afternoon, with the floral class starting at 1pm.
Sweet Creations owner Melissa Rae is running the cookie decorating class at 1.30pm.
‘‘The class will involve showing people how to decorate gingerbread cookies,’’ she said.
The styling class is at 3pm, with creating Christmas tags at 3.30pm.
Tickets for the high tea event are on sale with about 20 spots remaining.
Tickets can be bought at the Hospice Shop on Cleghorn St, Redwoodtown.
