Winston’s OK

Marlborough Express - - COMMENT&OPINION -

How facile of your columnists to slag off Winston. Safer of course than looking into why, in a supposed time of progress in our country’s affairs, our debt to foreigners is up a further $5 billion from last year. It is now $60b. In 2008 it was $18b.

Tell me now, who owns New Zealand? Elderly voters eh. I ama great grandfather who grew up with his dad away for five long years fighting a World War. Tell Karl du Fresne that my selfish thoughts are for my family growing up in a country which for three decades now has steadily alienated – in all senses of the word – a great deal of what Kiwis used to hold most dear. Trust the Natlabs or the Labnats? I’m old but I hope not senile.

The Single Transferable Vote system would be the way of most accurately showing who we prefer – or who we most want to keep from power – but with so many people anesthetised by visual and audible trash, I doubt they would be able to fill-in the ballot papers, Heaven help us.
