Pumped with new track
Cory said they had been asking for the track for ‘‘about eight years’’.
The course was going to help with his mountainbiking and motocross skills, Hunter said.
The aim of the pump track was to generate speed by ‘pumping’ your body weight up and down on the hills so you didn’t have to pedal.
The board of trustees approved the pump track in May, less than a month before it opened.
School deputy principal Mike Wilson said the children were ecstatic about the new pump track.
He said they had planned it for some time, but Todd picked up the idea and ran with it, so ‘‘it happened really fast’’.
Track designer and builder Chris Mildon said building something for people and children to enjoy made his job so satisfying.
‘‘This project is far more satisfying than building something for [me] to enjoy.’’
