Slippery course tricky
Home run: Mondo Kopua and his son Angus enjoy a downhill on the intermediate course at the fourth event in the Marlborough Mountain Bike Club’s Soup and Bun race series on Sunday. A mild, damp morning made ground conditions slippery for the 22 mountainbike riders who set off. Ollie Radford showed his speed and completed two laps of the longer hilly course in a quick 1hr 26min with Kiel Boynton also completing two laps in 1hr 51min. Alana McLuckie was the first woman home on the long course in 1hr 19min and Susan van der Poel came home five minutes later. Collette Marfell was the first person home on the shorter loop in 56min. Five juniors also competed along with their parents. The next event in the series is scheduled for July 13.
