Homeowners in Marlborough are asking for more when they sell, bucking a nationwide trend that shows in the year to July asking prices have fallen slightly. New figures from realestate.co.nz show the average asking price in Marlborough for July was $485,460, up 5.4 per cent on the same month the previous year. Nationally, the average price was $626,413, a 0.3 per cent drop over the same period. Nelson was $583,283, almost $100,000 more than in Marlborough, but to the south, Canterbury was slightly less expensive: $472,199. The figures show a 21.8 per cent decline on the number of new listings in the region. Listings fell by 15.5 per cent nationally.
