Spring event for youth

Mu­sic, marsh­mal­lows and good times have been planned for the first Marl­bor­ough Spring Fest event.

Planned by young peo­ple for their peers, the in­au­gu­ral Spring Fest 2K17 event takes place on Satur­day.

Or­gan­ised by mem­bers of the Marl­bor­ough Youth Trust, the event is geared to­wards youth and is open to all col­lege age stu­dents.

The move fol­lows plans by the trust to or­gan­ise more events for teenagers.

Co-or­gan­iser An­thony Ham­lin, 17, says the evening’s en­ter­tain­ment will fea­ture a DJ, live mu­sic and food trucks will also be on site. ‘‘It’s go­ing to be a good night. ‘‘There’s not that much for teenagers to do in Blenheim, ev­ery­thing seems to be geared to­wards younger kids.

‘‘This will be a safe place where peo­ple can come and have fun, lis­ten to mu­sic and just have a re­ally good night,’’ he says.

The cent will be held at the A & P Park on the cor­ner of Alabama and Maxwell roads and will run from 8pm un­til 10pm.

Tick­ets cost $2 can be brought from the Marl­bor­ough Youth Trust of­fice be­tween 9am and 5 pm Mon­day to Fri­day. Some gate sales will also be avail­able.
