All costs need to be revealed

Matamata Chronicle - - Opinion/news -

The council has requested that ratepayers etc give them an idea as to how we want our rubbish bags distributed.

In option two it is indicated that if this option is selected our rates would reduce from $176 to $85 per year.

Ratepayers I have spoken to would like council to provide following answers.

1: How long will it take for our savings of $85 to be swallowed up and included in future rates with us then paying for bags also?

2: How much will it cost to buy one rubbish bag from a retail outlet?

The council surely must have some idea as to both of these questions as according to their issued pamphlet factors such as increasing costs, GST and Emissions Trading Scheme have all been taken into account when advising some the adjusted costs involved.

However how are ratepayers able to make an informed decision when not given all costs that will be associated with this issue.
