Final: This was almost a replay of the semi-final and once again Callan and Selwyn produced their A game to become Men’s Championship Pairs duo for 2010/2011.
Selwyn Tappin must be singled out for his steady leading and Callan added the finishing touches as needed. Congratulations to both and good luck in the Champ of Champs later in the season. three players managed a net 65 requiring a sudden-death playoff on the 18th. So it was back to the 18th tee for Dennis Walsh, Kevin Laird and Gary Foy.
Gary being the only player not to receive a stroke on that hole. Both Dennis and Kevin however, found tree trouble, resulting in them both scoring a six. Gary missed the green to the left with his second shot but deftly chipped just a couple of feet below the hole, and sunk it for a par and the title and a stylish gold watch from Arawa Jewellers.
In the scramble of the day, Bert Daisley played superb golf picking up four balls for his net 64 and another two for a two.
The previously-mentioned players were joined by Mark Higginson on net 65, each grabbing two balls on the way whilst another four players earned a ball for their 66’s – well done John Isted, Lyall Wilson, Don Carrington and Rex Mason. There was still a ball each for the 68’s net from John Dwyer, Ken Clarke, Tony Hedley and Bill Wilson – Bill also collecting two more for his two.
Finally, Sen Sushi are now awarding a $10 voucher to the nearest the pin, this week on the 16th and Maurice Vosper snapped that up with a great tee-shot.

Walton Two-Person Ambrose Tournament
It was a fantastic day for golf at Walton Golf Club. The weather was terrific and the course was in great condition.
Sunday was the first Walton Two-Person Ambrose Tournament sponsored by Piako Motors and was a great success with 48 pairs taking. The format was for each pair to have a handicap difference of no more than 10, with each person having at least seven tee shots each. By sheer fluke and a lot of luck the eventual winners were a pair of locals with a net score of 55, Rodney Luxton and Dianne Sweeney, they won a round of golf for two at the Lakes Resort course with a cart and a dozen golf balls. Runner-up winners were Jack and Tania Scott with 59. Gross winners were J Pehi and C Natusch. The other highlight for the day was a hole-in-one by Rodney Luxton (a fluke) on the 12th hole with an 8 iron, his second hole-in-one. Thank you to all the visitors and the sponsor for the day.
