Top turnout cre­ate splash at meet

Mata­mata swim­ming ex­traor­dinare Matt Stan­ley was feel­ing pretty tired at Mata­mata Swim­ming Club’s spon­sored swim meet last Satur­day.

He had spent two weeks train­ing in Ro­torua with the New Zealand High Per­for­mance Swim­ming Squad.

More than 300 of the North Is­land’s top swim­mers gath­ered at Mata­mata Sports Cen­tre for the an­nual spon­sored swim meet which was well sup­ported by a num­ber of Mata­mata busi­nesses.

Meet di­rec­tor Tim Rogers said it was the first time for a num­ber of years that so many swim­mers had at­tended the meet.
