20 windows smashed at Matamata College
Overnight on 20 windows were smashed in Matamata College’s V Block and Arts Block.
A 25-year-old male and a 36-year-old female from Auckland were arrested for shoplifting from Matamata New World after fleeing the store. Police located them on State Highway 24 a short time later and all property was recovered.
A 26-year-old Waharoa man was arrested for theft of diesel from an agricultural contracting firm. Police located the offender the following day.
Police attended an accident in a driveway where a man was partially crushed by a roller. He sustained arm, shoulder and chest injuries and was airlifted to Waikato Hospital. The Department of Labour is investigating.
There was a burglary at a Te Poi South Rd, house; approximately $15,000 worth of jewellery and electronics were taken.
It was reported that a Matai Rd address was burgled. A PW80 dirtbike and a car stereo were taken.
A number of tagging incidents at various businesses were reported.
A 21-year-old man was arrested for an assault that occurred two weeks prior. Overnight A Gordon Tce address was entered and a vehicle was stolen which was later located in Te Aroha.
Police believe this may be connected to another incident on the same night where a vehicle was stolen from Putaruru in a burglary and was located in Matamata.
A burglary on Taihoa North Rd, a TV and laptop were taken.
Police attended a disorder incident where a youth was assaulted at a skate park, the victim received a cut to the forehead. Police are following up.
Police were later called to another order incident outside a bar.
Police attended a Peria Rd address after report of an assault. A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with intent to injure.
Further investigation revealed an alleged assault had occurred earlier in the morning and as a result a 33-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were arrested. All three have appeared in the Hamilton District Court.
Police attended a two-vehicle head-on collision near Piarere Hall. Two people were killed and four were airlifted to hospital.
