Three charged over ag­gra­vated rob­bery

Se­nior con­sta­ble Martin Capener from Mata­mata Po­lice flew to Christchurch on Mon­day to help his fel­low col­leagues in the earth­quake stricken city.

Last Tues­day three men were al­legedly in­volved in an ag­gra­vated rob­bery where a gun was pre­sented. The trio al­legedly made their way to­wards Mata­mata where po­lice de­ployed road spikes.

They came to rest on the cor­ner of Pe­ria and Gunn roads. The men, aged be­tween 30 and 40 years have been charged with ag­gra­vated rob­bery and will ap­pear in the Hamil­ton District Court.

Mata­mata po­lice would like to hear from any­one who has seen a red Holden Com­modore with a black bon­net trav­el­ling be­tween Mor­rinsville and Mata­mata about 11am.

A Holden Com­modore, reg­is­tra­tion num­ber OZ4938, was re­ported stolen at a Har­woods Rd ad­dress where it had been in stor­age.

Late at night a farm shed was bro­ken into on State High­way 27.

Power tools and were re­ported stolen.

A 14 year old was dealt with in re­la­tion to theft and re­ferred to Youth Aid.


Po­lice at­tended a sin­gle mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Tau­ranga Rd. There were no in­juries.

There was a bur­glary at a Mata­mata house and a lap­top was re­ported stolen.

A 19-year-old Mata­mata man was spo­ken to in re­la­tion to ob­struct­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer.

Po­lice at­tended a mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent on Te Poi South Rd where the driver sus­tained mi­nor in­juries.

A 46-year-old man was ar­rested for es­cap­ing po­lice cus­tody

A 30-year-old Wa­haroa man was ar­rested for as­sault.
