Car boot sale funds to aid quake school

Matamata Chronicle - - News - By LAURA McLEAY

Seeing the damage caused at Redcliffs Primary School in Christchurch has prompted Hinuera School to fundraise for their fellow students.

It is hosting a car boot sale on March 26 at the school and will give the majority of the proceeds to help Redcliffs purchase new school equipment damaged in the February quake.

Parent Teacher Association chairman Chris Thompson said this was a good way to forge a link with Redcliffs and to know the money donated would be going somewhere specifically.

‘‘We are well supported by the community here, so are in the position to help out.

‘‘We know how hard it can be for schools fundraise and they lost a lot of equipment.’’

To bring a car to the sale there is a fee of $10, which will be added to funds sent to Redcliffs.

Mr Thompson said those who were shifting on June 1 might want to have an early clean out.

Aside from the car boot sale, there will be other activities to create a family event.

The day kicks off at 8am and there will be cake stalls, sausage sizzles, ice creams and a puppet show at 10am in the school hall. For information phone Chris Thompson on 888-1941 or 021-234-1860.
