Walk programme shows history and stunning scenery
Experience the fantastic walks of Coromandel and the Kaimai Ranges. From April 16 to 30, explore these amazing areas with a programme of 26 guided walks that showcase historical gold mining trails, stunning scenery and flora and fauna.
Here’s some examples of our local walks;
Introduce yourself to the wonder of the Wairongamai Valley and enjoy a unique kids’ gold rush on this leisurely stroll through history.
Remains of the tramway and gold mining machinery lend a sense of magic to this day out which ends with an optional picnic and swim.
Spectacular waterfalls and views from the Kaimai ridge await travellers on this historic walking track near Te Aroha.
Tackle the 152-metre climb to the top of the Wairere Falls, a traditional route dating back to pre-European times, and return via a gentler loop walk through bush and farmland.

The breathtaking views of Great Barrier Island, across the Hauraki Gulf and out to the Pacific Ocean. This gem of a walk introduces you to the beauty and solitude of the Coromandel.

As part of a Government initiative to get Kiwi kids playing more sport and being more active after school, KiwiSport programmes will be running from 3.30 to 4.30pm in the following towns.
Anyone is welcome to attend if they fit the age group guidelines (which vary from programme to programme) and most are free or a gold coin donation. February 14 to March 7 Te Aroha – Monday touch and Thursday volleyball;
Morrinsville – Tuesday football and Thursday golf; Matamata – Friday football March 21 – April 15 Te Aroha – Monday basketball and Thursday league;
Morrinsville – Tuesday volleyball and Thursday touch;
Matamata – Tuesday touch and Friday volleyball.
