Layola’s teaching reminds us

Matamata Chronicle - - News/opinion -

As a volunteer I have recently been involved with fellow volunteers who were questioning the task to be performed. I would like to remind them through the Matamata Chronicle of a prayer from the 16th century by Ignatius Layola.

‘‘Teach us good Lord to serve thee as thou deservest; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and to ask for no reward, save that of knowing that we do thy will through Jesus Christ our Lord.’’
