Trees curb access

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Matamata Volunteer Fire Brigade chief fire officer Brian Hunter said he is growing increasingly concerned over the number of driveways that are too narrow for a fire truck to enter. Overhanging shrubbery is often the problem and needs to be maintained.

Mr Hunter said when trees and other growth covers a driveway, it could be a life-threatening situation if they can not get through.

A driveway must have a minimum clearance of 4m wide and 4m high. Mr Hunter asks people to keep their driveway trees trimmed in case of an emergency.
