Running shoes will be overtaking vehicles in Matamata this Friday, March 25.

Matamata College Sports Club will be holding the Matamata Mitre 10 Fun Run/ Walk to raise money for Matamata sports teams and Matamata College sporting projects and activities.

Matamata College sports co-ordinator Donna Gaskell said she would like to see the community support this event, as they did for the Tower Run, which had more than 250 participants.

‘‘It’s a great opportunity to support the Matamata community. It’s for all levels and is not a competition. We just want involvement,’’ Ms Gaskell said.

Registration begins at 5.30pm and runs/ walks begin at 6pm.

A barbecue dinner will be available on the evening, along with cold drinks and entertainment provided by Matamata College students.

The entry fee is $15 per person, $45 for a family concession and $40 for a team of four students, for both runners or walkers competing.

Participants can choose a 5km or 10km distance. Registration and fees need to be submitted to Matamata College or Matamata Mitre 10.

A late entry fee of $5 will apply to those who have not entered by March 21.
