Christchurch calls Emma
Year nine student, Emma Veltman returns to her college in Christchurch next week after spending four weeks at Matamata College because her school in Christchurch was badly damaged by the earthquake.
Emma was in the central business district when the earthquake struck and had to run into the middle of the street to avoid collapsing buildings.
In the days following the quake, Emma helped civil defence by distributing water around the area where she lives.
She has enjoyed her time at Matamata College, making many new friends and especially enjoying the music programme.
She said she was sad to leave but was looking forward to re-uniting with her family.
