Top bull fetches $9000
The bids were high at the Ngarua jersey sale last week. The Scott family from Feilding walked away with the top selling bull at $9000 which will be an addition to their 400-cow farm. Hamilton Family Trust, Invercargill, bid second taking a bull home for $5700 and BJ Shine of Dargaville paid just $3500.
The top cow in its prime, Medeley Park Boxers Sheba VHC94, was bought for $3200 by Joanne Hamilton of Invercargill. The top price heifer was Madeley Park Victor Carla, at $4100 paid by G Oldham of Tahuna. The sale of the bulls averaged $2536, the cows averaged $1975 and the heifers averaged $1900. The cattle were in excellent order and sold from Kaitaia to Invercargill.
The average was $600 up on last year and sold by PGG Wrightson on behalf of Belfield and family. This was their 58th annual sale.
