Get a life – and a ca­reer

Ca­reers will be top of the agenda dur­ing Waikato’s Get a Life ca­reers month in May.

A pri­mary ob­jec­tive of the month is to fos­ter a com­mu­nity un­der­stand­ing of what a ca­reer is and why it is im­por­tant.

Em­ploy­ers and train­ing providers are in­vited to reg­is­ter any free, ca­reer-re­lated events dur­ing the month on the Get a Life web­site www. ge­tal­ife­

Events can be any­thing ca­reer re­lated in­clud­ing open days, work­shops and sem­i­nars, ca­reer

CV plan­ning work­shops and de­vel­op­ment work­shops.

Get a Life steer­ing group spokesper­son Ross Jones of Ca­reer Ser­vices, said one high­light of the month was the Win­tec En­gi­neer­ing Ca­reers Day on May 10.

‘‘Get a Life is a great way to raise aware­ness of the skill needs of our re­gion and the huge range of ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able here,’’ Mr Jones said.
