Try bowls

Matamata Chronicle - - News - By LAURA McLEAY

The Matamata Returned and Services’ Association Citizens Bowling Club is scouting for new members. Whether people are interested in indoor bowls or keen to meet new people, organiser Bev Hewlett assures they will always have a great time.

Mrs Hewlett has been involved with the club for about six years and would love to see some new faces around.

‘‘ After some of our members have passed away, we would love some new members to come and join in our friendly atmosphere,’’ she said.

‘‘Bowling is good because you are amongst other people and the social side of it is good.’’

The club, in Ngaio St, runs indoor bowls once a week on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm.

Mrs Hewlett

said more players helped the games because the teams could be bigger.

‘‘We want to keep bowling going. We would not want to have to stop playing because we don’t have the members,’’ she said.

Indoor bowls is open to people of any age. Mrs Hewlett would like to encourage anyone to go along and have a look.

Just turn up at the RSA building or ring Mrs Hewlett on 888 5055 for more information. Games cost $2 per person.
