Gifts sent to Christchurch

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

Waikato MP Lindsay Tisch is encouraged and heartened by the generosity of constituents in response to his appeal to support the initiative ‘‘Shoe Boxes of Love’’.

‘‘ The response to this from all over the Waikato Electorate has been very generous,’’ Mr Tisch said.

These boxes were intended as gifts to individuals who have suffered from the Christchurch earthquakes and were sent as items of love from other New Zealanders.

‘‘I was particularly touched to see the ones the school children did that were decorated so cheerfully and were individually addressed to ‘‘girl of 9’’ or ‘‘ teenage boy’’ as they showed real thought and consideration had gone into the gifts,’’ said Mr Tisch.

Boxes were delivered to all three of Mr Tisch’s offices in Matamata, Cambridge and Te Kauwhata.

‘‘ To know the Rotary funded van was full to brimming over as it left the Waikato on its journey south made me very proud of our district. I know these gifts will lift the spirits and give real pleasure to the people in Christchurch who have had a very tough year,’’ said Mr Tisch.
