Cold snap brings snow

If you felt a ma­jor drop in the tem­per­a­ture ear­lier this week it was prob­a­bly be­cause it was snow­ing ev­ery­where in­clud­ing Mata­mata, where parts of the Kaimai ranges were sprin­kled with snow.

Much of the Waikato woke to a frost on Tues­day morn­ing while around the coun­try icy con­di­tions con­tinue to close roads and dis­rupt flights, with po­lice re­new­ing warn­ings for mo­torists to be cau­tious. The MetSer­vice said the worst of the cold snap which brought snow, power cuts and soar­ing fire­wood sales was over.
