Builders win awards

Mata­mata builders’ true strengths were shown at the Reg­is­tered Mas­ter Builders 2011 House of the Year and RMB Com­mer­cial Pro­ject Awards on Fri­day.

In the Waikato re­gion, Stan­ley Con­struc­tion won a Supreme Award for 2011 Com­mer­cial Pro­ject of the Year and cat­e­gory win­ner for PlaceMak­ers Hamil­ton Tourism and Leisure Pro­ject for the Knoll Ridge Cafe they built at Mt Ruapehu, Whaka­papa. They were also pre­sented with a Life Mem­ber Award for the Cafe.

Gud­sell De­signer Homes Lim­ited won a sil­ver award for the Depart­ment of Build­ing and Hous­ing New Homes un­der $250,000 cat­e­gory and a gold award in the new homes $600,000 to $1 mil­lion cat­e­gory.

Peter Vossen Builders Lim­ited was the New Homes $1 mil­lion to $2 mil­lion cat­e­gory win­ner and was pre­sented with a gold award for a prop­erty they built in Mata­mata over the past year.

Peter Vossen said he was ex­tremely proud of his team which had walked away with an award each year for the past four years.

‘‘The house we built this year was a com­plex build but the pas­sion that we have for build­ing re­flects through our guys and I have to thank them,’’ he said.

‘‘We have a team of top qual­ity guys who turn out qual­ity work.’’

Waikato Stan­ley Group gen­eral man­ager and di­rec­tor Craig Dav­i­son was also elated with their win.

‘‘We had hoped for a gold award for the Knoll Ridge cafe, so the oth­ers were the ic­ing on the cake. We are very pleased,’’ he said.

‘‘We have a fan­tas­tic group of peo­ple here – and it wasn’t al­ways easy get­ting out work­ing in the harsh con­di­tions on Ruapehu but all the team still gave their best.’’
