Time to tax meat

With Aus­tralia now fol­low­ing New Zealand’s lead and in­tro­duc­ing emis­sions trad­ing, the time is ripe to ask if the gov­ern­ment is re­ally tax­ing the big pol­luters as it claims? It has given a free pass to some of the big­gest of­fend­ers by not levy­ing a car­bon tax on meat.

Ac­cord­ing to a top United Na­tions of­fi­cial, the live­stock sec­tor is one of the most sig­nif­i­cant con­trib­u­tors to the most se­ri­ous en­vi­ron­men­tal prob­lems.
