Velodrome consultation

Matamata Chronicle - - Opinion/news -

Do people of Matamata know that the Waikato Regional Council is supposed to be consulting them to find out what they think about paying for a velodrome to be built on private land at St Peters School, Cambridge?

Ratepayers need to know that if the council agrees to finance this venture, it will mean that all ratepayers will be paying for it for 20 years and that this special consultation is necessary because the Home of Cycling has not gone through the correct channels to request money for their venture. Ratepayers are therefore footing the bill for the special consultation that is now required before this proposal can be considered or agreed to. The Home of Cycling is pulling out all stops to ensure that its venture is successful, even to the extent of getting children to submit in their favour. Ratepayers also need to have their point of view heard. They can do this by going to the council’s website and making a submission http:/ /www.waikatore
