Treat gas heat with care

Matamata Chronicle - - News - By DR TONY SMITH

St John has timely first aid tips for the prevention of gas poisoning.

Gas heaters without a chimney are particularly dangerous when used in a confined space with inadequate ventilation. Gas and patio heaters, and gas and charcoal barbecues all release a number of poisonous gases.

The best treatment is prevention: Ensure there is adequate ventilation.

Never go to sleep with gas heating on. Signs of gas poisoning include nausea, drowsiness, confusion and loss of consciousness.
