Four hurt as jet boats collide
Four people sustained serious injuries when two jet boats collided head-on last Sunday afternoon as they negotiated the Waihou River near Matamata.
The crash was attended by the Westpac Rescue helicopter after one boater managed to get out of the river and phone for help.
Four of the five occupants of both boats were injured and one was air lifted to Waikato hospital in a serious condition. Two of the other boaters injured were treated at a local hospital but have recovered well and there are no further concerns for their medical condition.
