Books wanted for fair

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

If you are clearing your bookcase the Matamata Historical Society would love to hear from you.

The society is getting ready for its annual Book Fair on October 13, 14 and 15 at the old Alibi Bar at 94-96 Broadway in Matamata.

‘‘All pre-loved books are gratefully accepted, so don’t hesitate to get in touch,’’ said Book Fair co-ordinator Colin Kemplen.

‘‘As well as books, we are happy to take jigsaw puzzles, CDs, DVDs, videos, records, tapes and magazines,’’ he said.

The Citizens Advice Bureau at Railside on the Green is the drop off point. They are open from 10am to 4pm weekdays.

Mr Kemplen said there was an enthusiastic team standing by to start sorting the books into their various categories.

‘‘If you came to the fair last year you’ll know that there is always a bargain to be had,’’ he said. ‘‘We haven’t changed the prices this year so you’ll be able to buy a top quality paperback for $2 and a quality coffee table book for around $5.’’

Funds raised will be used to maintain Matamata Historical Society’s heritage displays at the Firth Tower museum complex on Tower Rd. For more information phone Colin Kemplen 888 4172.

Books wanted please: Colin Kemplen has cleaned out his book shelf in preparation for this year’s Matamata Historical Society’s annual fundraiser the Book Fair.
