Rugby fever sweeps through town
With the Rugby World Cup in full swing Matamata has seen teams and supporters both stop off for a visit on their way through to games. The Springboks, a Canadian rugby club and Australian and Welsh fans have been spotted around town. Matamata College is also showing its support and rallying to bring back their former student Brendon Leonard after he dropped out of the All Blacks last year due to injury. Locals have enjoyed meeting the passers-by, taking photos and getting signatures from the Springbok players.
