Young cadets win places with team­work

St John youth cadets from Mata­mata com­peted at the St John Youth Com­pe­ti­tion held at Pu­taruru Col­lege. Mata­mata In­ter­me­di­ate stu­dents Aaron Stephens, Talya Berry and Grif­fin Brown com­peted in the in­ter­me­di­ate team sec­tion claim­ing first, sec­ond and third places.

They were also awarded first ag­gre­gate medal­lion.

The ju­nior team made up of four stu­dents from var­i­ous pri­mary schools in the area were awarded fourth ag­gre­gate medal­lion.

The teams had to show skills in ba­sic life sup­port, first aid, and com­plete a num­ber of drills in which both teams showed out­stand­ing team­work.

All the best as they progress to com­pet­ing at the St John Re­gional Com­pe­ti­tions in Te Aroha this Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 28.

St John cur­rently has 27 cadets and is still grow­ing.
