Looking for activities?

Then head along to your local library next week to sign up for the Kiwanis Summer Reading Programme.

The ‘Big Bush Read’ is under way at Matamata-piako libraries from next Monday.

Children can visit any library to register from December 12, or register online at mpdc.govt.nz/ summer-reading.

The reading programme is loads of fun and encourages kids to keep up their reading over the summer holidays. Registered children read library books ( either by themselves or with an adult) then report in to library staff.

Each time they report in they

holiday receive a small incentive, activity sheet and a sticker their folder.

If you are going away for the holidays you can still take part. Kids can still check in using the phone, fax, email or online at the website address above.

There are fun activity days during the programme, where children can get involved in fun bushthemed crafts.

Once children have checked in three times they are eligible for the finale party at their local pool – where they can have a free swim, receive a certificate and listen to the exciting storyteller.
