Christmas at the Park set to be an evening of sharing
Share Bro (a play on the Kiwi saying chur bro) is the theme at this year’s Christmas at the Park which will be held on Sunday December 18 at Bedford Park.
Festivities will begin at 4.30pm with a family carnival. Matamata Brass will launch the evening’s musical entertainment at 6.30pm.
There will be singing and dancing groups performing, including acts from Aspire Dance Academy and the Academy of Dance.
One of the lead acts is Polynesian dance group Polynesian F’atafai, who will come from Forest View High School in Tokoroa. This group won the Waikato Bay of Plenty Polynesian Dance Competition 2011.
The main band this year is Neon Funk and they will play a range of covers and a branch of pop opera group Lyrica - Tesoro will also entertain on the night.
The evening will
be wrapped up by a fireworks extravaganza.
Christmas at the Park programme co- ordinator Missi Bonnar said the evening was about sharing and giving.
‘‘We will have a big sign with Share Bro on it.’’
Christmas at the Park is a two-yearly event which is co-ordinated by all churches in the Matamata area.
‘‘ This is our way of putting something on for members of the community and giving back to them,’’ Mrs Bonnar said.
