Volunteer efforts for 2011 rewarded
With Christmas fast approaching, Pohlen Hospital took the time to thank volunteers who willingly gave their time to help out around the hospital and at various events throughout the year.
To celebrate Pohlen Hospital chefs cooked a feast of Christmas nibbles which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Pohlen Hospital chairwoman Robin Steed was there to speak on behalf of the hospital and to thank the volunteers personally.
‘‘This is a small way of saying thank you for the said.
‘‘The volunteers help with so much including the Meals on Wheels and entertaining the residents here at the hospital,’’ Mrs Steed said.
Petrol vouchers were given out to the eight groups who take turns
support,’’ she in delivering the Meals on Wheels as a sign of appreciation.
The groups take turns on a weekly roster and deliver up to 45 meals a day every day to individuals and groups in the community.
‘‘For a small rural place, if we didn’t have the support of the com- munity to the degree we do here, we could never accomplish what we do and help so many people,’’ Mrs Steed said.
‘‘The support from the Pohlen Foundation Trust is wonderful and we thank the volunteers who also support this through their work.’’
