Vol­un­teer ef­forts for 2011 re­warded

With Christ­mas fast ap­proach­ing, Pohlen Hos­pi­tal took the time to thank vol­un­teers who will­ingly gave their time to help out around the hos­pi­tal and at var­i­ous events through­out the year.

To cel­e­brate Pohlen Hos­pi­tal chefs cooked a feast of Christ­mas nib­bles which was thor­oughly en­joyed by ev­ery­one.

Pohlen Hos­pi­tal chair­woman Robin Steed was there to speak on be­half of the hos­pi­tal and to thank the vol­un­teers per­son­ally.

‘‘This is a small way of say­ing thank you for the said.

‘‘The vol­un­teers help with so much in­clud­ing the Meals on Wheels and en­ter­tain­ing the res­i­dents here at the hos­pi­tal,’’ Mrs Steed said.

Petrol vouch­ers were given out to the eight groups who take turns

sup­port,’’ she in de­liv­er­ing the Meals on Wheels as a sign of ap­pre­ci­a­tion.

The groups take turns on a weekly ros­ter and de­liver up to 45 meals a day ev­ery day to in­di­vid­u­als and groups in the com­mu­nity.

‘‘For a small ru­ral place, if we didn’t have the sup­port of the com- mu­nity to the de­gree we do here, we could never ac­com­plish what we do and help so many peo­ple,’’ Mrs Steed said.

‘‘The sup­port from the Pohlen Foun­da­tion Trust is won­der­ful and we thank the vol­un­teers who also sup­port this through their work.’’
