Matamata Chronicle - - Rural Delivery - By JOAN STANLEY

The official opening of a new exhibition, From Horse to Tractor – Farm Machinery Through the Years will be held on February 11 at the Firth Tower Museum.

Matamata Historical Society members have been working on this new project for nearly five years.

It is housed in the Mark Madill Shed which has been extended to make room for all the implements.

Explanatory text panels and enlarged photographs describe farming practices and farm machinery from pre-european times until modern times in the Matamata district.

The project is a team effort by Matamata Historical Society volunteers with the services of local businesses when required.

There will be free entry to the Firth Tower Museum all day on February 11 so everyone has a chance to look at the new exhibits as well as the other interesting displays.
