Big turnout for shed opening

Matamata Chronicle - - News -

The From Horse to Tractor exhibition in the new Mark Madill Farm Machinery Shed at Firth Tower Museum was officially opened last Saturday in front of a large turnout.

The project was undertaken by the Matamata Historical Society whose members were congratulated by Matamata-piako District Mayor Hugh Vercoe for all the work that had been done.

Neil Algar from the historical society said the official opening had been a long time coming. ‘‘It’s impossible to thank everyone who has helped with this project but everything that has been done has been very much appreciated.’’ Mr Algar urged members of the Matamata community to get along and take a look.

The ribbon was cut by Pat Madill who was the first to walk through the doors of the Mark Madill Shed and be given a guided tour by Ian Walker.

A visitor’s book was signed by all those who attended the official opening and billy tea and scones were served.
